The concession stand jambalaya at last week’s game against South Plaquemines was donated by Mosaic. The jambalaya cooked for the participants of the “Alumni Night” celebration was donated by Southern Creole Spices Catering.

In football news, the Wildcats will hit the road this week and travel to City Park of New Orleans where they will take on the Sophie B. Wright Warriors at Pan American Stadium.

At last week’s booster meeting, former SJH head coach Rick Gaille was on hand as a guest speaker. Some notable quotes from his speech include:

“To be who you want to be, do what you are supposed to do!”

“When you find yourself down in a hole -- and this is anything in life -- the first thing you must do is stop digging. Stop and take a break for a second or two. Take a ‘mental martini.’  Evaluate the entire situation and then lay the steps out on how to get out of that hole. Begin executing your plan and then constantly evaluate it. Only then will you ever know if you are progressing forward as opposed to running backwards.”

“Mostly all sportswriters in the media cover the ‘who, what, when, and where’s.’ I try to cover all those things plus the ‘why’s and how’s.”

“I do miss coaching. I miss being on the sideline in the grind of the battle. I miss the extensive preparation and passion of putting together a scheme and then hopefully executing it towards victory. What I don’t miss is that knot in my stomach on Friday mornings hoping that we didn’t miss working on something during the week.”
