Hall of Distinction
The St. James High School Hall of Distinction recognizes individuals, who need not have attended or graduated from St. James High/Magnolia High, must have distinguished themselves in service and leadership by playing an active role as a booster or support personnel at St. James High School and/or the former Magnolia High School.
Hall of Distinction candidates must have demonstrated a strong commitment to the school's success via one particular accomplishment or through a sustained and exemplary record of service and support over the course of many years. Nominees must be 5 years removed from position, competition, or active role with the school.
Hall of Distinction Policy
Election to the St. James High School Hall of Distinction should be done following in-depth consideration as it relates to this policy. Under no circumstances can an administrator, coach or any other individual unilaterally make the decision to place a nominee into the Hall of Distinction.
The moral character of the nominee must be considered along with the accomplishments/contributions of the individual. Induction to the St. James High School Hall of Distinction is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an individual, thus incidents questioning an individuals character must be fact based and discussed among the committee.
The selection committee comprised of Administration, Athletic Director, School Board, and Historical Alumni may induct up to (2) new members and up to (12) members for the inaugural induction year. (July 2020)
Induction Process
Evaluation
of a nomination begins with vetting by Administration, followed by
input from the selection committee comprised of Administration, Athletic
Director, School Board, and Historical Alumni not to exceed 12 members.
The Inaugural Hall of Distinction Class:
On November 1, 2019 the following individuals who were previously displayed on the football press box and school flagpole were commemorated at the St. James High School home football game finale against the Patterson Lumberjacks.
*The Selection Committee made the unanimous decision on August 19, 2019 to re-dedicate the following individuals as the first 4 members of the St. James High School Inaugural Hall of Distinction Class.
Darren Spencer, Clyde Bellow, Maurice “Pete” Ockmond Jr., and Sgt. Jay Ryan Gauthreaux
*The final inductees will be selected at the annual selection meeting on July 13, 2020 completing the Inaugural Hall of Distinction Class.
The inductee may be honored at a school-sponsored event and/or invited to speak at an individual sports banquet, collective sports banquet or annual academic ACE Banquet. Induction to the St. James High School Hall of Fame will be held at the annual Hall of Fame/Hall of Distinction Ceremony in January of each year beginning January 2021.

A plaque will be displayed on the outside wall of the St. James High
School library featuring Hall of Distinction Inductees synopsis and
photo.
*St. James High School reserves the authority to
reconsider a Hall of Distinction member if the individual recognized, by
subsequent actions, presents a significant negative reflection on
themselves and/or the school.
